Our Stud Dogs

Three generations: Borealis, daughter Lady and granddaughter Tilly

Our males have been chosen for breeding based on their performance as racing sled dogs and they offer access to some of the top proven Alaskan Husky bloodlines in the sport.

Brave, Ledge, and Chinook have been bred in our kennel and are producing great dogs that are making our teams. We bred Hookfang in June and are excited for his first litter to hit the ground!

Brave

Lineage

SabretoothxGrannyEllen 2013

Brave comes from a strong lineage, as his parents led Aaron Peck’s Stage Stop team to victory in 2013

Profile

Brave is an exceptional stud, with 18 of his offspring currently in our kennel. Remarkably, all of them are main racing dogs, and 17 are leaders.

Brave himself is a natural leader, displaying confidence and a deep passion for running in harness. He led my team for all three days at The Pas World Championship in 2018.

I have bred Brave with ¼ pointer crosses, producing huskier dogs that are athletic, hard-driving, fast, and friendly.

Brave is an excellent stud choice due to his ability to consistently produce leaders and high-quality dogs in his litters.

Ledge

Lineage

BravexUhHuh 2018

Ledge, a son of Brave, has a strong pedigree with his mother Uh Huh being a key point dog and leader on JR Anderson’s Stage Stop team for many years.

Profile

Ledge is a versatile dog, known for his fluid speed, toughness, and stamina. He was part of my winning 6-dog team at The Pas in 2022 and has been a mainstay on the 10-dog team for the past two seasons.

In 2023, Ledge ran point in the Klondike Dog Derby, securing 5th place, and competed for three days at The Pas and Cross Lake. In 2024, he placed 2nd in the 10-dog race at Cross Lake, 1st in the Brochet 10-dog race, and 1st in the 5-dog Jr. Southend race.

I bred him with Stormfly in 2023, resulting in eight promising puppies. We kept four and sold four, all showing great potential.

Like his father, Ledge produces consistent litters with a high percentage of leaders and quality dogs.

Chinook

Lineage

HomerxQuartz 2017

Part of the ‘Cook Kennel’ selective breeding program

Profile

Chinook was bred last year to Oprah, producing two beautiful pups that are now leading and ready for competitive racing.

For the past two seasons, Chinook has been the main 10-dog leader, achieving impressive results this year. He finished 2nd in the 10-dog race at Cross Lake, 1st in the 10-dog race at Brochet, and 1st in the Jr Race at Southend.

As a dominant lead dog, Chinook excels in mass start racing and showcases the strength of the “Cook Kennel” bloodline.

Chinook represents years of selective breeding and his toughness, speed, and durability make him an excellent choice for a stud.

Hookfang

LIneage

UncasxQuartz 2015

Profile

Hookfang has been our main 6-dog leader since he was 2 years old. He won the first race he led and has continued that trend throughout his career. He is a tall dog with a rangy build and good angulation. He also may be the fastest dog I’ve seen run, and he does it gracefully.

He is a proven champion, having won the Prince Albert Winter Festival 2019 10-dog race, The Pas Jack McPhail 6-dog race in 2022, and the Cross Lake Kenneth McLeod Memorial 6-dog race in 2024, at the age of 8.

He has been bred to Lara, with the litter due in September.
